Cosy dessert bar. Ordered the matcha basque burnt cheesecake and the brightside cocktail. This combination was recommended and i thought the recommendation was spot on! Creamy and smooth dessert + refreshing drink = lovely end to the day :)

Yakizen is where you can find value-for-money lunches during the day and great Izakaya at night! Some of their stand-out dishes include the Salmon Aburi Maki ($26.80) and the Fresh Oyster with ponzu sauce (3pcs for $14.80). We reckon these would make for the perfect dinner when paired with either their Asahi or Sapporo bottles.

a non-alcoholic cocktail that’s umami from the olives🍸 and zesty from the yuzu🍋

First time at Hopscotch! My friend and I decided to give it a try after getting burpple. We shared the fish & chips and the XO sticky back ribs. The ribs were flavourful and slid off quite well from the bones, though it would be nicer with more sauce. Both dishes were quite dry and were not hot / warm when served, which made the whole eating experience not so ideal. Overall, the ambience is nice - we sat outdoors where there was a nice breeze.

4⭐ The burpple deal is limited to pasta/ pizza hence we ordered a meat lover pizza and an aglio olio for sharing. The pasta is good but the pizza is even better. WB praised that it's one of the best pizza he ate bcos the crust is thin yet crispy.

This features a set of 10 sticks of chicken satay.
.
The chicken satay skewers are thick, tender, moist, and chunky, marinated in a house blend of spices, including cumin and turmeric.
.
This results in a bold and addictive smoky meaty savoury spice sweet flavour.
.
Served with juicy cucumbers with vegetal sweet flavour, crisp red onions with tangy sour vegetal flavour, and soft ketupat / rice cakes with mild grainy sweet notes.

It was really salty on its own and the cheese sauce wasn't enough. Good thing the staff is attentive and kept filling up our water!

The online dessert menu using their QR code was "closed" so we had to order verbally. They had apple pie ($16), berry crumble and cheesecake - all with a side of ice cream.

I'd defo return for the ambience! It's a convenient walk over thru the Marina Sq Linkway :)

FYI: Last order for food is 10.30pm and drinks 11pm.

Drink was nice but you're paying more for the ambience which is chill, adequately spaced between tables so it's good for talking, and most tables have comfy sofa seats. Great place for a drink aft a swim!

We are back at Cherki as we were pleased to find that the restaurant extended it's stay on Burpple Beyond, plus we really like their fusion peranakan cuisine. Today, we decided to try the braised pongteh lamb shank, which comes with a huge lamb shank served alongside a small serving of blue pea flower rice and achar. The lamb shank was braised for quite a long duration in a fermented bean paste and the meat was definitely no longer gamey, and the sauce covering the lamb shank had a slight nutty taste to it. However, we felt that the lamb meat could have been more tender, as parts of it were quite tough.

The rice was pretty fragrant although as in our previous reviews, we felt that the serving size could be larger to make for a more filling meal. The dish costs $24++ although you should use your Burpple Beyond vouchers if you have them to enjoy a discount. 😋

Cherki was packed to the brim on a Friday night and if you are ever thinking of visiting on a Friday nightz you need to make a reservation in advance!

They recently launched a range of skewers.
.
The Skewers Chicken (SGD $2.50 per skewer) has tender juicy chicken thigh meat, with smoky sweet savoury salty flavour.
.
The Skewers Pork (SGD $2.50 per skewer) has large chewy succulent pork belly with equal parts fat to lean meat, carrying meaty savoury salty spice flavour.
.
The Skewers Seafood (Salmon) (SGD $2.90 per skewer) was rather generically named on the menu, I suppose so that they can change the ingredient, but on this visit, we had an excellent fresh salmon fish skewer, which was sweet salty in flavour, with a crisp light salmon skin and flaky moist salmon fish meat.
.
Loved the Skewers Squid Balls (SGD $2.50 per skewer) as well, bouncy and juicy in texture, with lovely sweet savoury flavour.

Was at Cherki on a Friday night for dinner and the place was really packed. Thankfully, we already made reservations on Chope.

As we previously tried the lobster linguine and really liked it, both of us ordered the same dish again. The linguine was cooked to an al dente texture, and the laksa flavors were infused nicely as the gravy (which wasn’t too watery) coated each strand of pasta. The addition of tau pok pieces that soaked up the rich coconut-based sauce made this dish reminiscent of the hearty traditional laksa we’re familiar with.

Other than the half lobster that was served in the shell on the side, lobster pieces were also hidden in the linguine. The lobster was on the smaller side, understandably so because of the price. I found mine to be a bit fishy that day but the partner found his to be fine.

We also shared a side dish - chicken satay in peanut sauce encased in pappadom shells. While the name suggests that the chicken pieces are wrapped in regular tortilla found in Mexican dishes, the use of crispy crackers we enjoy in our Nasi Briyani was rather ingenious. The chicken pieces were coated in a slightly sweet peanut-based sauce, which was a bit sweet for my liking but would remind you of the traditional satay sauce. While novel, the price is a bit on the high side for the portion given. However, it can be something interesting to try in a group, where one can experience Indian and peranakan flavors all in one dish.
