A comforting lunch we had while working from home last week - Soup Restaurant’s Buddy Meal for 2 pax!

The classic Traditional Boiled Soup of the Day and Seasonal Vegetables are fixed items in the set, but you can choose the rice dishes to your preference. We went with the Earthern Bowl Steamed Rice with Chicken and Chinese Sausage and couldn’t miss out on their Earthern Bowl Steamed Rice with Chicken & Samsui Ginger! We liked the option of getting these smaller portions and that it’s convenient too via Deliveroo - our food came piping hot yay! The chicken chunks were tender and well seasoned.
This was another comforting number following the other soup dish, the Collagen Soup with Fish Maw and Bamboo Pith. The luffa is meticulously hand sliced into noodle-like strips and served in collagen soup with fried shredded conpoy, Jin Hua ham and Sakura ebi. It’s not as rich as compared to the fish maw soup, but it was still a very enjoyable one. The smart addition of crispy Sakura ebi gave extra texture and flavour to tie the dish together. If to nitpick, I would have liked a touch bit more of the ebi added in!
JUMBO Seafood’s award-winning chilli crabs don’t need further introduction, but what’s different here at JUMBO Signatures, is that they thoughtfully deshelled the crab pincer for you - the crab meat was firm, plump and sweet. Their chilli crab sauce is made with 10 over spices, accumulating to a good heat. Shiok to have especially with the crispy fried mantou!
I LOVED this. It was super comforting and nourishing with fresh fish maw, bamboo pith, dried scallops and goji berries - it’s lightly peppered and so nicely thickened through hours of simmering chicken bones, pork fat and pork skin. Loved how they refrained from over seasoning to allow the original flavours of the ingredients to shine.
A plump scallop with smooth yam paste sitting in a delicately fried nest. It came with a side of homemade sweet sauce for you to add on, but I enjoyed it as much without thanks to the sweetness of the yam.
A pity that the lobster’s sesame dressing was quite heavy. Would have been nice if it was done much lighter to allow the lobster’s natural sweetness come through more! The lobster itself was very fresh and cooked just right to a firm yet tender texture.
I got to try seaweed meat floss cakes from Baoshifu, a China pastry shop, while we were in China for holiday a couple years back. Those cakes were exactly what inspired this dish! You get a prawn done in a lightly crisped pork floss and seaweed mix. Prawn was fresh.
We started the Signatures Tasting Menu with 2 types of amuse bouche - Marinated Jellyfish and Seafood Cone. These items are changed up based on the ingredients available, to ensure the best quality ones are used.
The jellyfish was crunchy and tangy, while the cone had a simple but tasty mix of prawn, mango, cucumber and salad cream in a crunchy charcoal cone.
JUMBO Group’s newest concept is JUMBO Signatures, a premium dining space in MBS. They have 3 curated menus - A La Carte, Executive Set Lunch and the Signatures Tasting Menu.
In the a la carte menu, they have their rendition of an elevated pao fan. It has Jasmine rice, crispy rice, fresh mud crabmeat and botan ebi served in a hot stone bowl, with umami-rich prawn broth poured over. Really loved the rich seafood sweetness! I was full but couldn’t resist finishing the broth 😂 On the side, there’s also a fried botan ebi head seasoned with salt and pepper.
Thought there wasn’t really a need for the additional ice cream on top, as the star was the super refreshing coconut pudding hidden underneath. Plus point was the sweet and soft coconut flesh that you can scoop out to enjoy together.

Unfortunately the pork slices were a tad too tough, especially when the dish has cooled down. Their team is aware of this though, and we heard that they are already looking at improving it asap!

Crunchy and thinly sliced lotus root generously mixed in with salted egg. This was so addictive we wish it could be made into a bagged snack 😂
