Fantastic food and ambience! Dropped by here with a good friend and we had a great time. I had the smash meatball, rosti, wagyu burger, and i liked them all. I also really liked the welcome drink so i ordered another whole glass of it hehe. Ended off the night with a chocolate dome and i loved how we could drop it from a great height! Its a lovely dessert experience even tho I lifted the dome a little too high and the chocolate bits went everywhere :D. Loved this place and would recommend people to go :)

Yakizen is where you can find value-for-money lunches during the day and great Izakaya at night! Some of their stand-out dishes include the Salmon Aburi Maki ($26.80) and the Fresh Oyster with ponzu sauce (3pcs for $14.80). We reckon these would make for the perfect dinner when paired with either their Asahi or Sapporo bottles.

Apple pie was smartly constructed with filo pastry, chocolate mouse and the best component of the dish- sour cream ice cream! Good rendition of Apple pie overall, maybe just make it 25% less sweet?

The cod fish is amazing with pepper and tomato sauce/purée and nicely charred Brussels sprouts! The duck I reckon is better to skip, the sauce taste like chili crab sauce which doesn’t go with the duck plus the duck was too fatty. Cocktail with whiskey, burnt orange and rooibos tea was good, on a sweater side though.

We visited KOAL by Les Amis Group recently to try their set lunch. It’s a 3-course set and you get a choice of 1 starter, 1 rice bowl (includes Japanese rice, onsen egg & shredded nori) & 1 dessert. Here’s what we got:

~Burrata Salad, US Rib Eye, Hojicha & Whiskey Tiramisu ($42)
~Beef & Tofu, Grassfed Rib Eye, Freshly Fried Donut ($30)

Can’t really pick a favourite between both of our rice bowls, as both beef steaks were executed really well - nicely charred, with good textures and delectable flavours! We enjoyed the starters we chose too, both the Burrata Salad and Beef & Tofu were refreshing! As for desserts (not pictured), I liked the Hojicha & Whiskey Tiramisu, which is a nice twist on the classic tiramisu; we felt the filling could have been more generous in the Freshly Fried Donut.

All in, the set lunches are reasonably priced for the quality and portions you get! Their set lunch is available every Tuesday to Sunday from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

A complex, full-bodied cocktail that celebrates the dark underbelly of forbidden godown distilleries of the early 20th century.
.
This features a blend of banana infused whisky, smoked maple syrup, and barbecue bitters, served in a generous whisky bottle and poured over ice.
.
The drink carries potent fruity boozy sweet savoury smoky flavour, you taste the distinct notes of banana and barbecue and whisky and smoke.
.
Loved this strong tipple, a fantastic brew that I would order again.

Supposedly a chocolate tart but it tasted more like a brownie and cake combined into one decadent chocolate dessert. Pleasing to the eye and the tartness of the raspberry sorbet went so well with it. Just maybe the "tart" could be richer.

My first of having lamb riblets and this lamb dish was a stunner. In fact, the best out of the night. The slow cooked lamb ribs were fork tender that the meat easily pulled off from the bones. It had a nice sticky sweet glaze that cut through the gaminess of meat. The pumpkin puree and pico de gallo made it even more delectable with a refreshing touch. Totally a must-have! 💯

This saffron-infused paella is topped with clams and char-grilled king prawns. The rice was flavourful and cooked just right with a nice firmness and texture to it.
