One of the most iconic food centres in the East has to be Tampines Round Market and, as one of its oldest occupants, I'm sure @shenlirestaurant is no stranger to many of the Tampines residents!😄
Ngl the name Shen Li did not ring a bell at first, until I mentioned its name to my dad who was coming along for the meal, and he exclaimed that this was the stall at which we had many birthday meals at with our extended family. Recently passed to the 3rd generation, this stall does indeed trigger a huge wave of nostalgia.😌
Here’s what we enjoyed…🤤
👉Claypot Tauhuey - SGD10
👉Blueberry Chicken - SGD12/18
👉Chilli Milk Prawns - SGD16/24
👉Coffee Pork - SGD15
👉Sambal Stingray - SGD15/18
👉Stir-fry Nai Bai
With the passing over to the new gen, Shen Li adds another unique appeal to its nostalgic charm. By retaining classics such as the Coffee Pork and introducing new dishes such as the Blueberry Chicken & Claypot Tauhuey, we were treated to a refreshed menu that retained its roots in taste.😬
Personal favourites has to be the Chilli Milk Prawns and Sambal Stingray. Both dishes were testimony to the fresh ingredients used at Shen Li, and both were also really well-marinated.😋
For the adventurous, do try their Blueberry Chicken that came with a slightly tart blueberry mayo on top of the fried chicken cutlet. The Claypot Tauhuey was also what we think is a great twist to the usual hotplate beancurd.😉
All in all, @shenlirestaurant is definitely a Tze Char stall worth visiting and I can guarantee that you'll be a recurring customer once you've tried them!☺️

Love this kway chap. Well marinated and flavourful pig intenstine and meat. Great supper choice coz it’s open till late!
Not too bad, quite addictive given how chaoshou noodles are basically their signature. Somewhat mild tho
Honestly it's as plain as it looks, not particularly bad but not what the picture looked like. There's also filler not in the picture like eringi mushroom
4⭐ Maruhachi has opened the 8th store at Bedok since it first open at Punggol in Nov 2020. I read about the long queue when it opened in Punggol and was relieved that there's no queue when we went to the Bedok outlet on it's first day of opening.
I ordered the cheese menchi katsu set and WB ordered the pork katsu curry. The portion is similar to the restaurant but price is almost half of what the tonkatsu restaurants are charging. However it's considered pricey compared to the food sold at other stalls in coffeeshop and it's not something you will eat everyday from a coffeeshop.
The tonkatsu are freshly fried upon order hence a waiting time of at least 10min and served on the metal rack to prevent it from getting soggy. The panko batter is different from those tonkatsu we had from the restaurant which is more crispy. The rice served is not ordinary rice but japanese rice. The miso soup has few slices of fishcake and kelp, I'm able to differentiate the quality of their miso soup from the normal coffeeshop miso soup. The cabbage served was sliced finely and fresh. Overall the food at Maruhachi are of quality considering it's from a coffeeshop.

Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The size is nice and makes for a good bite. It was a hit with the kids.

📍YouFu Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle, Golden Mile Food Centre📍
💸 Fried Hokkien Mee (Add-on Egg): $5.70
...
Tried one of the popular Hokkien Mee stalls, YouFu Hokkien Mee, in Golden Mile today😌! Pretty nice and flavourful with Wok Hei in it. Could tell that the noodles and bee hoon soaked up the flavourful broth so it was good👍! We normally prefer the wetter type of Hokkien Mee with more gravy but this version was slightly on the drier side, not what we usually would go for😬. Also added extra egg and was surprised that it was served on the side🍳. We expected it to be mixed into the Hokkien Mee but it wasn't, so we mixed it in ourselves hahaha. Always love more egg which makes it more flavourful and fragrant😋!
Pig liver is believed to be highly nourishing and also improves one’s eyesight. That being said, I absolutely need to eat it frequently! 🤓
These thinly sliced liver from the popular Leng Kee fish soup stall at Bukit Timah food centre is perfectly tender and cooked nicely with slight-pinkish in the middle [without any of the gamey smell!].

Wanted to try this as I saw it on social media. Ordered the egg appam ($2.80).
It tasted like thosai and pancake combined and I generally like it but probably minus the pepper in the future.
