Welcome to Lorong Kilat.

A cozy cafe located along Lorong Kilat, it was intriguing to see the tables made from vintage sewing machines. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and Croque Monsieur with additional 2 eggs with #BurppleBeyond - 2 plates for $22. Worth it for the food quality!

Based in Upper Bukit Timah, Carpenter & Cook is an artisanal bakery and café that uses quality ingredients and traditional techniques to create hand-crafted pastries from scratch. This includes savoury offerings such as their Ham & Cheese Croissant ($7) and Bacon Croissant ($7), as well as sweeter alternatives like the Fruit Danish ($5.50), the Cinnamon Roll ($5.50), and the Fruit/Plain Scone ($4.50) which comes with fresh homemade jam and clotted cream.

Was expecting soft tender ribs but turns out the ribs were tough. The honey mustard sauce was good but wasn’t enough to save this dish.

The other dishes we ordered were good. Will be giving this dish a miss then next time when we are there.

The passionfruit tart has a good mix of citrus and sweetness. The lemonade fizz was refreshing for a hot sunny day!

Taste good as usual, satisfying my sweet tooth cravings. Definitely better than Overscoop hahaha

Not only a visual feast with the adornment of edible flowers and herbs but a yummy treat. The seasonal fruit is a cross between lemon and mandarin with tangy and floral notes, reminiscent of Yuzu. Enjoyed the thin & crisp butter tart filled with luscious bright and fruity curd. Personally found the curd a tad too creamy (would have preferred the texture slightly more firm), but a delightful rendition nonetheless. We did try eating the edible embellishments but found them to detract from the lemon and more befitting of decoration.

Generously filled to the brim, the fillings were creamy, flavourful, and just the right sweetness level. The puff itself was airy and light, and had a slight outer crisp on delivery (would have preferred more crisp exterior). In order of taste preference: pistachio & hazelnut (nutty), chocolate salted caramel (good balance of sweet and salty), earl grey (fragrant floral notes but wished for stronger tea aroma - almost confused this with vanilla), and vanilla (too milky).

I had scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, streaky bacon, smoked salmon and croissant from the mix-and-match brunch. All the food items are yums and nicely executed.

It’s also a great hideout for me to escape the heat! 🥵

Waffle + horlicks ice cream + lemon cheese cake ice cream. Wud rec

Ice cream was yummy! Tried the mentaiko fries as well which was average. Good service. Quiet chill cafe with a lot of space to relax. Overall rating 6 out of 10. Thank you!
