We visited KOAL by Les Amis Group recently to try their set lunch. Itโ€™s a 3-course set and you get a choice of 1 starter, 1 rice bowl (includes Japanese rice, onsen egg & shredded nori) & 1 dessert. Hereโ€™s what we got:

~Burrata Salad, US Rib Eye, Hojicha & Whiskey Tiramisu ($42)
~Beef & Tofu, Grassfed Rib Eye, Freshly Fried Donut ($30)

Canโ€™t really pick a favourite between both of our rice bowls, as both beef steaks were executed really well - nicely charred, with good textures and delectable flavours! We enjoyed the starters we chose too, both the Burrata Salad and Beef & Tofu were refreshing! As for desserts (not pictured), I liked the Hojicha & Whiskey Tiramisu, which is a nice twist on the classic tiramisu; we felt the filling could have been more generous in the Freshly Fried Donut.

All in, the set lunches are reasonably priced for the quality and portions you get! Their set lunch is available every Tuesday to Sunday from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Tried the hakata-style black curry rice with fried wagyu katsu. Deep fried till golden-brown, the katsu is crispy on the outside, while still juicy on the inside. The unique black curry features a mix of pork, chicken broth and secret spice combination! ๐Ÿ›โœจ

This has a mild smoky taste and is a popular item among the diners. For those who don't take beef, you can also choose to enjoy the black curry with pork loin, chicken or carbonara.

Another item that we tried is the beef burger. Said to be the juiciest and softest wagyu beef hamburg steak, the kuroge beef burger is created by Chef Fukuyoshi who won the European Mondo Selection award and was voted as one of Japan's 50 top chefs! Served alongside wedges and onion rings, you can also get your hands dirty with their build-your-own-burger option ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

If you're visiting for lunch/early dinner, try their set meal and ramen options (from 11am-6pm). Also available on major food delivery platforms.

The mudslide (apparently one of the signature items on the desserts menu). However, on the day of visit, theyโ€™d ran out of vanilla and chocolate ice cream. The only options were strawberry and salted caramel. We went for the salted caramel with fudge. Not sure if it was the flavour combination, but I thought it was rather unimpressive and nothing much to shout about. I tasted the fudge on its own, expecting it to be โ€œwowโ€ given itโ€™s indicated as a signature dessert, I suppose it would still โ€œwowโ€ somewhat despite the missing vanilla ice cream. It turned out to taste rather similar to Mcdonaldโ€™s hot fudge. Was a tad disappointed!

Nothing short of fresh, succulent and juicy! Lobster tail was executed in a simple fashion - broiled with drawn butter and therefore well seasoned. Simplicity in its best!

Had what I would think would be the must-order โ€œstandardโ€ item from the Lawryโ€™s menu. My roast beef - California cut - was served with the famed spinning bowl salad performed table side, creamed spinach and Yorkshire pudding. My favourite side would be the Yorkshire pudding - definitely one of the better ones Iโ€™ve had! It was puffy, fragrant and yet โ€˜custardyโ€™ in the centre. Itโ€™s the perfect carb to soak up all the excess brown sauce. Creamed spinach was decent but a lilโ€™ too โ€˜limpyโ€™ for my liking. Iโ€™ve had better creamed spinach elsewhere. Mashed potatoes were creamy, smooth and flavourful - a standard you would expect from Lawry's

We were also served 2 portions of Horseradish whipped cream tin two variations - 1 with a stronger wasabi flavour, 1 with a sweeter note and less hints of wasabi. I definitely preferred the roast beef doused in their signature gravy/ brown sauce. The husband quite enjoyed the roast beef with wasabi tho.

This place is really cosy and nice for a good catch up. We both ordered pork ribs (hickory and the carolina bbq) because we've heard good reviews about it. The food came and they were really good! The meat was soft and flavourful and together with the sides, they go really well. We both agreed that we will not hesitate to come back the next time!

I had a really wonderful evening dining at Meadesmoore. There was a good variety of interesting dishes and we decided to start off with the Breaded Pig's Head, Baby Octopus Piperade, Bone Marrow and Maitake Mushroom. The starters were really flavoursome, exotic and easily prepared our palates for the upcoming mains we ordered.

We shared the Onglet and Flat Iron, and it was honestly one of the best steaks I have ever eaten!! Paired with the Salsa Verde, the meats were cooked to such perfection, it's texture so heavenly and succulent that it melted with such wholesome flavours in my mouth!

We ended off the entire meal with a Tiramisu, which needless to say, wrapped up the entire dinner really well!

Overall, it was a very pleasant experience (coupled with the exceptional service provided). Would definitely be back again for more!! :)
